4th of July Fireworks stand - Fundraiser

Every year we host a Fireworks stand in the old Roth's parking lot (NW corner of Chemawa and River Rd.)  Do you want to spend some time checking out this year's newest fireworks?  Do you like the idea of hanging out with some other fun Band parents?  Chatting up the public as they come in eager to buy things that sparkle and whistle?

 

Come join us, we are seeking volunteers to help man the Fireworks Booth (2 hour shifts) – from 6/23 to 7/5 (noon) – sorry, all booth operators must be 18 and older.  (It keeps the Fire Marshall happy).  Call or Email to sign up or for further information...

Band Day - Bottle and Can Drive -

Saturday, September 12 - 8 am-7 pm

 

Every year we spend a Saturday doing a MASSIVE bottle and can drive.  We are in SERIOUS NEED of Volunteers.   We need: Drivers (to take small groups of kids to neighborhoods, and monitor them as they go door to do asking for bottles, cans, or other donations), Transporters (do you have a Pick-up, flat bed, large open trailer? that you can pull throughout the neighborhood drop stations picking up bagged bottles and cans and freighting them back to the Roth's parking lot), Sorters (sorting bottles cans, rejects, etc.) and finally, some gophers.

Easy way to fundraiser is to buy scrip. You buy scrip cards from the Band Boosters for stores and restaurants you generally frequent. Use the scrip gift card instead of cash or credit card. When you buy the gift card, the order form is in your student's name and a percentage of the cost of the card(s) you buy goes into your student's band account.

For those of you who are new to band or need more information about scrip, here is a general overview.  Most of you have seen the racks of gift cards for various restaurants, department stores, and specialty shops.  For the past 6 years we have been partnering with the Scrip Service Center through the Tigard School District to sell many of those same gift cards.  Through this partnership, students receive a percentage (generally 4% to 12% of the value of the card) toward their student account for band fees.  For example, if you purchase a $25 gift card to Bath and Body Works the student whom you are ordering through would receive 4% of the value of the gift card toward their account.  You still pay $25 for a $25 card.  There are many, many types of cards to order.  On the order form, next to the name of the store or restaurant in parenthesis, will be the percentage that your student will receive toward their band fees if you purchase that card.  We will have at least one order time a month, with the exception of November and December when we will have 2 order times (a great time to order them for friends and family for the holidays).  The students will turn in the order form and the money (it needs to be put together in a sealed envelope marked "scrip" on the outside, and then put in the locked Booster box in Mrs. Bell's office by the end of the school day on the identified Mondays.  Our scrip coordinator will pick up the order forms and money and then place our order Monday night with the Scrip Service Center.  We pick up the cards Thursday morning of the order week and they are taken back to school to be given to the kids on Friday.

 

 

Each time we place an order, it cost's $10.  While we try to take orders every two weeks, if we don't have enough orders, it is not worth paying the $10 plus someone's gas to go to Tigard and pick them up. So please be understanding if you put in an order and then get told it won't be that week like planned.

Put your completed form, and check in an envelope and place in the Band Box (a box with a lock on it) located on the right side wall of Mrs. Bell's office.  The envelope needs to be in the box by the end of the school day on either the 1st or 3rd Monday of each month.

 
All checks are to be paid payable to McNary Band Boosters.

Scrip will be an ongoing fundraiser.

​Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program

If you have a Fred Meyer Rewards card, you can go to their website at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrwards and search for McNary Band Boosters by name or by non-profit number (89002).   Then, link your rewards card by entering your rewards card number.  Every time you shop at Fred Meyer and use your rewards card, you earn a donation from Fred Meyer to McNary Band!  You still earn your rewards points, fuel points, and rebates just as you currently would.  Every little bit will add up and come to support our band program.
